Performance Conditioning and Coaching
Cardiovascular Performance
Our interest in cardiovascular physiology also extends beyond cardiac rehabilitation to people looking to improve aerobic performance or prepare for exercise in challenging environments.
We provide exercise assessment, education and programming around cardiovascular and aerobic performance with a particular special interest in track cycling.
Areas we work with
Aerobic conditioning and exercise programming
Exercise intensity and training-zone prescription
Heat acclimation and preparation for exercise in hot environments
Altitude preparation and acclimatisation
Cardiovascular and thermoregulatory responses to exercise
Hydration and performance in the heat
Preparation for endurance events and competition
Strength and conditioning periodisation and programming
Programs are individualised around your current fitness, training history, sporting demands and the environment in which you will be training or competing.
Heat & Altitude
Heat and altitude place additional stress on the cardiovascular system and can significantly affect exercise performance.
Training in the heat increases demands on the cardiovascular and thermoregulatory systems as the body attempts to maintain blood flow to working muscle while also increasing blood flow to the skin for heat dissipation. Altitude presents a different challenge, with reduced oxygen availability affecting aerobic performance and changing the body's physiological response to exercise.
Appropriate preparation can help you understand these demands and structure your training around the environment you are preparing for.
Our Coaching Structure
Initial Consultation
1 hour
Your initial consultation begins with a review of your training history, current aerobic training, sporting or performance goals, and any upcoming events or environmental conditions you may be preparing for.
We will assess your current cardiovascular and aerobic capacity and discuss the specific demands of your training or sport. Where appropriate, this may include a submaximal graded exercise test to assess your cardiovascular response to increasing exercise intensity and establish a baseline for your aerobic conditioning.
For athletes preparing for heat or altitude, the consultation will also consider the environmental conditions you are preparing for, previous exposure, expected duration and intensity of exercise, and how these factors may affect your training and performance.
Following the assessment, we will develop an individualised approach to your aerobic conditioning and performance goals. Additionally, strength and conditioning programs may also be prescribed in conjunction
